Simultaneous Interpretation by State

▶ QUICK SUMMARY

lingo serves all 27 Brazilian states in two formats: RSI (remote simultaneous interpretation via Zoom, Teams, Meet or Webex), with no travel cost; and an in-person interpreter with complete equipment, for events where physical presence is essential. Each state page brings the region's real economic context — highlighted sectors, local companies and projects, relevant venues and the most requested languages — so that the quote comes out already calibrated to your event.

How national coverage works

lingo serves all 27 states of Brazil in two formats. RSI, remote simultaneous interpretation delivered via Zoom, Teams, Meet or Webex, requires no travel and can be set up in less than 24 hours. The in-person interpreter brings complete equipment to the venue and is recommended for events where physical presence is essential, such as congresses, trade shows, technical visits and board meetings.

The choice depends on the event, not the state. A board meeting between teams in two cities can be done by RSI with no loss of quality. A congress with an on-site audience calls for a booth, receivers and an on-site technician. The guides to remote simultaneous interpretation and in-person simultaneous interpretation detail each format.

Each state page brings the region's economic context, with highlighted sectors, local companies and projects, relevant venues and the most requested languages, so the quote comes out already calibrated to the event. The city pages complement this context with practical logistics: airport, distance, venues and hotels.

Southeast and South: the largest volume of events

São Paulo concentrates Latin America's largest financial hub, with Faria Lima, Avenida Paulista and the WTC. It is where most M&A meetings, boards and roadshows take place, and the pages for São Paulo and the South Zone detail the operation. Rio de Janeiro has oil and gas, Petrobras and the capital markets, and Minas Gerais combines mining and steel, with companies such as Vale and Usiminas.

In the South, Paraná is strong in the automotive sector, with Volkswagen and Audi, and has Foz do Iguaçu as an events destination. Rio Grande do Sul brings together agribusiness, winemaking and the Serra Gaúcha, and Santa Catarina stands out in technology, with WEG, and as the national startup capital. Espírito Santo, in the Southeast, has steel and ports, with ArcelorMittal and Vale. The links for each: Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Espírito Santo.

High-volume Center-West and Northeast

The Federal District is the center of Brazilian diplomacy, with more than 130 embassies and the CICB as its main convention center. Institutional meetings call for protocol vocabulary, which lingo prepares for each mandate. Goiás combines agribusiness with pharmaceutical and automotive industries.

In the Northeast, Bahia has the Camaçari Petrochemical Hub, Pernambuco brings together technology, at Porto Digital, and energy, at Suape, and Ceará is positioning itself in green hydrogen, with the Pecém Complex. Each of these areas has its own vocabulary, from petrochemicals to renewable energy, and lingo prepares the glossary according to the event's topic. Pages: Federal District, Goiás, Bahia, Pernambuco and Ceará.

The other Northeast states

  • Maranhão: Port of Itaqui and the Alumar Consortium.
  • Piauí: renewable energy and green hydrogen.
  • Rio Grande do Norte: onshore and offshore wind energy.
  • Paraíba: footwear and technology, in Campina Grande.
  • Alagoas: sugar-alcohol sector and tourism, in Maceió.
  • Sergipe: oil and gas, with the Deep Waters Project.

In states with a lower volume of corporate events, RSI is usually the simplest option, because it avoids transporting equipment and interpreters. When the event requires physical presence, lingo plans the logistics 5 to 7 days ahead.

North and the other Center-West states

In the North, Amazonas has the Manaus Free Trade Zone, an industrial hub, and Pará brings together the mining of the Carajás Complex. Rondônia is known for coffee and export beef, Acre for bioeconomy and the carbon market, Amapá for the Amazon logistics of the Port of Santana, and Roraima for frontier agribusiness, with a new route via Guyana. For these states, the distance from the major centers makes the savings from RSI especially relevant.

In the Center-West, Mato Grosso is Brazil's largest state exporter, with soy, Mato Grosso do Sul has the Cellulose Valley, with Suzano and Arauco, and Tocantins is experiencing rapid expansion of grain agribusiness. Links: Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Acre, Amapá, Roraima, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and Tocantins.

Sectors that appear in several states

Some topics repeat across the country, and the vocabulary prepared for one state serves as a basis for another. Renewable energy and green hydrogen appear in Ceará and Piauí, and wind energy in Rio Grande do Norte. Agribusiness is present in Goiás, Mato Grosso, Tocantins and Rio Grande do Sul. Mining and steel appear in Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo and Pará. Oil and gas, in Sergipe, Rio de Janeiro and Bahia, where there is also petrochemicals.

The sectors served by lingo are gathered on the sectors page. For the most common high-risk topics, such as M&A and due diligence, see simultaneous interpretation in due diligence, and for boards, board of directors meeting.

Lead times, costs and invoicing by state

For RSI, setup takes less than 24 hours. For in-person, 5 to 7 days of lead time are recommended, to organize the transport of equipment and people. RSI eliminates airfare, accommodation, equipment freight and technician daily rates, and the automatic quote shows the price of both modalities for your state in 60 seconds.

lingo issues a national electronic invoice for events in any state, and the quote amount is the final amount on the invoice. To understand the price factors, see how much simultaneous interpretation costs, and for what the equipment includes, simultaneous interpretation equipment rental.

Most common event types by region

  • Financial capitals and services hubs: M&A meetings, boards of directors, roadshows and investment committees, where the accuracy of numbers and clauses is decisive.
  • Industrial regions: supplier qualification, quality audits, technical trainings and plant visits, with engineering vocabulary.
  • Agribusiness regions: negotiations with foreign buyers, export meetings and agricultural trade show events, with commodities vocabulary.
  • Energy hubs: meetings on wind, solar, green hydrogen and oil and gas projects, with international investors and suppliers.
  • Brasília and capitals with institutional activity: diplomatic meetings, government missions and agency events, with protocol vocabulary.

Each event type has a different risk profile, and so does the most suitable format. For congresses, see simultaneous interpretation for congresses, and for roadshows, roadshow and IPO.

Tips for events in distant states

When the event is far from São Paulo, three precautions reduce risk. The first is to send material in advance, because the interpreter will not have the chance of a prior visit to the venue. The second is to confirm the venue's internet and audio infrastructure, especially for RSI and hybrid events. The third is to define a local production contact, who solves access and schedule questions.

For RSI, lingo recommends a connection test before the event, with the platform host. For in-person, the team arrives 2 to 3 hours early for setup and tests, and the kit includes spare receivers and a redundant transmitter. The technician remains on site throughout the program, which matters even more where replacing equipment would take time.

At confidential events, it is worth remembering that lingo signs an NDA valid for 5 years before receiving the material, and that Alex Barros does not accept competing mandates in the same deal. These rules apply in any state.

Human or AI in the states

lingo offers human interpretation and AI interpretation. At high-risk events, such as negotiations, audits and board meetings, the human interpreter with prepared vocabulary is the safest choice. At informational, lower-risk events, AI reduces cost and can serve with quick setup. The options are at in-person AI interpretation and remote, and the cost and risk comparison is in ROI of simultaneous interpretation.

Alex Barros, founder of lingo, is a simultaneous interpreter with 21 years of experience. To see documented work across different sectors and regions, see the cases page.
