AI Interpreter Remote — via Zoom, Teams and Meet
▶ QUICK SUMMARY
lingo integrates AI simultaneous interpretation into the Language Interpretation channel of Zoom, Teams Premium and Google Meet. Participants select the language in the app and hear the AI in real time. 2 to 4-second latency. Recommended for internal events, training sessions and conferences with reduced budget.
How the remote AI interpreter works
The lingo AI system joins the Zoom, Teams or Meet call as a designated interpretation participant — the same slot a human interpreter would occupy. It captures speaker audio via the platform audio channel, processes it with real-time interpretation LLMs, and transmits the translation in the selected language channel. Participants hear the AI exactly as they would hear a human interpreter.
The main technical difference: the human interpreter has context memory accumulated throughout the call and adapts tone in real time; the AI processes 30 to 60-second context windows. In linear presentations, the difference is imperceptible. In non-linear discussions with multiple simultaneous speakers, the human is superior.
Ideal use cases for remote AI
Corporate training with standardized content (onboarding, compliance, certifications), internal webinars with structured presentation, team meetings between international offices where content is operational (not strategic), and long-duration events (4h+) in adverse time zones where sourcing a quality human interpreter would be difficult.
Not recommended: sensitive bilateral negotiations, PE boards with open portfolio discussion, due diligences with in-depth technical Q&A, any event where terminological precision has direct legal or financial implications.
Technical integration — Zoom, Teams and Meet
Zoom: AI joins as co-host with Language Interpretation permission. The organizer activates the channel in Settings → Language Interpretation. Setup: 15 minutes before the call. Compatible with Zoom Pro, Business and Enterprise.
Microsoft Teams Premium: integration via interpretation bot in the meeting channel. Requires Teams Premium license. Setup: 20 minutes before. Google Meet Enterprise: integration via interpretation API. Slightly higher latency (3 to 5s). For all platforms, lingo configures and monitors the channel during the event. FAQ
Does the remote AI interpreter work on free Zoom?
No. Language Interpretation requires Zoom Pro, Business or Enterprise. The free plan does not support the feature.
Can I have AI as primary and human as backup on the same call?
Yes. lingo configures the AI as primary interpreter and a human on standby on the same channel — if the AI fails or quality drops, the human takes over without perceptible interruption.
Does the AI learn company-specific vocabulary?
Yes. Before the call, lingo loads the client technical glossary into the model — proprietary terms, internal acronyms, product names — significantly increasing accuracy for company-specific vocabulary.
What is the price difference between remote AI and human remote interpreter?
Remote AI typically costs 30–50% less than a human interpreter for events of 2h or more. For short calls (under 1h), the differential is smaller.
Does lingo monitor quality during the call?
Yes. A lingo technician monitors the AI channel throughout the call and can intervene immediately if quality drops, activating the human backup interpreter.
